Maxi Skirt Deathmatch

I want need would sell my liver for the perfect long black skirt. Something not quite Morticia Addams, but certainly not Age of Aquarius either. I’ve had my eye on this skirt from With Hearts in My Eyes on bonadrag.com for a looong time.

And I was just about ready to pull the trigger, until I saw the dress version. Um, schwing!

Low back, high front. Sooo pretty. I thought my dilemma had reached an apex, until I saw this dress from asos.com.

Pretty sweet too, right?? So what should I do? Please do not tell me to buy all unless you know the winning numbers for the lotto.

In the Daylight Anywhere Feels like Home

One day, two outfits. Part 1: Grocery shopping. Went over my grocery budget for the week. Couldn’t help it because my cravings for chocolate have taken over my mind. Enter Trader Joe’s molten lava chocolate mini-cakes. Pretty much just like heaven, only kept in your freezer.

Part 2: Drinks at Beehive, a trendy(ish) bar/lounge in the South End. I bought this dress planning to wear it as a shirt. Then I figured, what the hell? There will be a point in time when I really shouldn’t wear tight dresses. But that time isn’t now!

I Wanna Be Somebody…

Ahh, Thanksgiving Day. This was one of the best Thansgiving’s I’ve had in recent years. I often have a hard time with Thanksgiving- there are too many obligations and the weather has usually turned from crisp to bone-chilling. It overwhelms me and I hide from the weather, the people, the happiness that sometimes seems out of my reach. But this year, I had a great time at my sister’s parents-in-law.

Clearly I couldn’t leave the gothic-ness behind completely, so I opted for grey and black. And tight clothes on Thanksgiving! Trust me, I knew to take pictures before dinner and spare you my food baby.

Combat Salacious Removal

Saturday night and I was feelin’ alright. But honestly, my second favorite part of any night out? That precise moment when my head hits the pillow and I shut my eyes. My favorite part of any night out, is of course, getting ready!

Looking at this outfit now, I think it would have looked better with a pair of brogues or something that reached below my ankle. Guess I need to go buy some brogue now, huh?

I bought my first dslr (Nikon D60) during the summer and I’ve really been getting into photography the past few months. Which has been fun, but also incredibly, incredibly frustrating. I am not a good photographer. I have no eye for composition, I have trouble understanding lighting, and I am not that creative.  And I find myself surrounded by friends and families who have a real natural ability.  Ugh.  It’s so frustrating. But I’m going to keep trying. Things came so easy to me as a child and teenager, that I am just now learning to appreciate the feeling of succeeding after trying and trying.

Lovely readers, do you have any general tips for a burgeoning photographer? Or book recommendations?

Blog Award!

by a stylized hysteria on November 22, 2009

Clandestine Chic was kind enough to pass along the Kreative Blog award my way. These are always to receive and give, so yay!

kreativ

This award includes a tag, which means I get to talk about myself. Double yay!

7 Things You Don’t Know About Me:
1. When I get incredibly angry, I start crying. Which can be embarrassing because people assume I’m weak. It’s quite the opposite, however.

2. I had a total of 10 piercings in my ears, and I did six of them myself as a teenager including the cartilage at the top of my ear. I was so hardcore, man!

3. I have been working non-stop since I was about 12. I started off with two paper routes, and my first “real” job at 16 was at Contempo Casuals (now known as Wet Seal).

4. I remember the exact moment that I fell in love with horror movies. I was 8 or 9 and watching tv in the basement while my mom did laundry. Salem’s Lot was on and the only scary part in the movie came on- you know, when they dig up the grave and open it and the boy’s body is gone. My heart jumped out of chest and I fell in love with the feeling if being scared.

5. I cannot properly straighten the pinkie on my left hand. A fire extinguisher fell on it as a baby and I kept messing with the splint (according to my mom) so it never set properly.

6. I used to get serious road-rage. So when I moved into the city I gave up my car and have never missed being behind the wheel.

7. When I get home from work, the first thing I do is lay down on the ground and snuggle with Chloe Kitten. She only wants to be touched after waking up from naps, so I take full advantage.

Now I get to pass the award onto seven other bloggers I follow and enjoy.
