Yawn. I’m usually in bed by 10:30 (don’t laugh) but when a girlfriend I haven’t seen in two years comes to town, well, I stay up. And I spend the next day yawning and mainlining starbucks. Yum!
On another note, Sunday was Chloe Cat’s 1 yr. birthday! She enjoyed some fish and new toys and bug killing. All in all, a great day for her.
When I first brought her home:

And now:

I miss her little shaved belly- so cute! Now onto the clothes!

This morning I woke up with a clear vision of my outfit. A strapless yellow and grey flowered dress with light grey tights and platform sandals and maybe a belt. And then I tried it on and it was a total disaster.
Then I remembered this awesome outfit on Krystal from This Time Tomorrow. It’s a skirt, no it’s a dress! It… was completely and totally copied by me. To me, that’s the best part of this whole crazy blogging business- instant inspiration that translates to real life in a way fashion editorials never could.

Krystal, lookin’ good
I might have done better choosing another dress to try this with. The dress is short sleeved and a little loose, so it required pinning to stay on my waist. Then I had these unsightly lumps. Long story short, There’s a lot of layering going on in this outfit.

This is me trying something new. It looked a little sloppy and it looked a lot like a british school uniform. And yep, I got loads of weird looks wearing my knee high socks.

Where have I been? I have no clue to be honest. There’s been a lot of working out, a lot of eating out, and a whole lot of staring at my closet and pulling my hair out in frustration. What is it that drives me (or us) to feel that there’s nothing worth wearing in my closet, despite the fact that it’s bursting with clothes? I’ve probably said it before, but I’m infinitely more impressed with bloggers who wear items again and again than bloggers who have a new closet every season. Where do you stand on this?
Well, I do know where I was last Wednesday. I was at the Kate Spade store on Newbury Street, waiting anxiously for a glimpse of Tim Gunn. The place was crazy packed, but they were serving bubbly to help pacify the crowds.
I was completely swept up in the excitement and ended up buying a small Kate Spade wallet so I could get to meet him. He was so nice! Very charming and polished and full of nice things to say about the people he’s met, the Project Runway contestants, and the craziness of the event. And he called me pretty! Swoon!

I never stopped loving pink. Instead, my love expanded to include all shades of pink and red. So of course this editorial made me squeal with joy.

I am tingly with anticipation over here. Yes, tingly. In just a few months I will no longer be using my 6 year old ibook. Just. a. little. more. saving. And a nice refund from Uncle Sam!
This outfit is from last week. I have never worn so much yellow in my life. But now I like it.

I miss the days of mistakes being little more than road-bumps. It was easy to dust yourself off and run full-speed ahead to the next mistake. Mistakes these days weigh so heavily, it seems. On that pleasant note, I’m finally doing my taxes this weekend!
I have not one, but two important work events today. Which means… office clothes. Boo hiss! As far as work outfits go, this one isn’t too bad. It’s hard to see, but the dress has subtle white pinstripes.

I was reminded that today is the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death. It feels appropriate to use his lyrics today then.
I had an amazing weekend with my sister. She came to visit from Philly and we had a blast walking around the city, shopping away, and laughing at Chloe kitten. Good times, man, good times.
I have a backlog of outfits that I never posted last week, so without further ado:

Such a catchy song. My internet-free weekend wasn’t exactly internet-free. It was astonishing how many times I automatically reached for my iphone to check my mail or visit twitter. It was a good start though. I’ll be doing more internet-free days. My goal is to be able to sit down and read a book for more than a half-hour at a time. Yeah, my brain is that fried.
The weather this past week has been atrocious. I managed to put on something cute for a couple of days, but the rest of the time I was a fashion fail.
