It’s too hot for this shit

Earlier this week, I gave up on dressing for the weather. Like Sam Jackson would say, or yell, “It’s too hot for this shit!” So I wore my new shirt from Zara, and long pants, and sweated my proverbial balls off.

Short post today; I’m actually in Philly visiting my sister and nephew. I might be biased but my nephew is the smartest, cutest child to ever exist. Enjoy the weekend, folks!

Alexander Wang Resort 2011 Accessories

Refinery29 has a roundup of the Wang’s (new nickname, perhaps?) latest accessories. Most of the bags are what we’ve seen before, albeit in some yummy new colors and leather. The shoes are interesting. They are decidedly aggressive, which works well for the sandals but is overkill with the boots. There are a few standouts that I would love to see magically appear in my closet. What about you? Did the Wang play it too safe? Are you bored? Drooling? Wondering if you can convince people to start prefacing your name with “the”?

If you want to see the rest of the collection, it’s here.

Eddie Borgo | F/W 10.11

Kate Lanphear, looking incredibly gorgeous and badass in one hell of a jewelry campaign. Brilliant move on Mr. Borgo’s part getting Kate to model. I can only imagine how many other fashion bloggers are posting these pictures right now!

Pink, it’s my new obsession.

It’s really not a new obsession. Hot pink has always been one of my favorite colors. So any new acquisition in this shade makes me giddy.

Case in point: dolce vita’s pela wedges.

They come in damn near every neutral under the sun-black, brown, grey, silver. What color did I have to have? PINK!

I love them so much, I wore them two days in a row. And I might be wearing them again today. That’s the same hairdo both days, by the way. Works great for those days when you wake up late, stare at your blow-dryer and hair products and just think “fuck it.”

And a bonus Calliope picture because… well, look at her!

I wear tight clothing, high heeled shoes…

It doesn’t mean that I’m a prostitute, no no.

Although you’d think it from the looks I got in this. Yes, in this. It must have been the platform heels drawing attention. I think the idea that woman are catty by nature is untrue; but days like this one test my belief. I try to myself that the looks aren’t catty, other women are just checking out my outfit. So in that spirit, I made a promise to myself. When I see a woman in a great outfit, I’m going to smile at her. I’m not going to give her the once-over that makes us all uncomfortable. I’m going to try and let my admiration show through my face.

On an unrelated note, I think the hem on these jeans needs to come up about a half inch. Proportions are everything, right?

Sleeping is giving in, no matter what the time is.

I almost don’t want to post this picture because I look so tired and rundown. I am neither at the moment, so I think it means I need to start remembering blush in the mornings.

Once upon a time, I had a respectable collection of Diane von Furstenberg dresses. They are so easy to throw on and always look flattering. But as I wore them more often, I began to realize that they don’t really work for me. I’d always end up flashing my underwear on the street-because of wild winds and soft breezes alike. The majority of them also dipped down pretty low in the front, which was fine for fun but less fine for work. I slowly sold off a lot of my collection-now I’m down to five, all of which I love.

Saturday night and I’m feeling all right

If these photos were taken at the beginning of the night, like I’d planned, my hair would be down and giant and curly and fabulous. But when you mix alcohol and a hot bar, you end up with hair pulled back (and out of my drink!). So these photos were taken at the end of the night, after champagne, abita raspberry beer, and passion fruit martinis. I think that explains the uh, quality of these photos.

Risque in ripped jeans

My boss was on vacation last week, which translated to wearing my favorite, most unprofessional jeans to work. You ready for something scandalous? I’m not wearing a tank top under my shirt. Just a nude bra. Risque indeed, right? No? Well, I felt very adventurous.

New York, New York, I Love You

A few pics from my 4th of July in New York :)

Picture1 072
My friend’s cat, Dexter. He’s an honorary member of los gatos malos since he plays rough and likes to scratch. But to be fair, he does cuddle right after.

Mariachis on the MTA to Coney Island. Because when I think of Coney Island, I think of mariachi music.

Dear random girl, I heart your blonde, blonde hair, your sweet little bow, and your pink raybans.

My super awesome lady-friend, Devon. RIP, my vintage aviators. I wish we could have had more time together.

I had my first Nathan’s hot dog. The wait was worth it.

A couple of rides I didn’t get a chance to ride on. It was so hot and busy- we couldn’t hang.

Oh New York. You tempt me with your promises of fun, fashion, and amazing food. I have to live here at some point in my life. I feel like it should be mandatory to live in NY for a short while, just to experience how amazing the city can be.
