Neons

I tried to salvage this photo, which came out terribly. As if the shoes aren’t bright enough, the dress is that yellow-green neon shade that is notoriously hard to photograph. I ordered the dress months and months ago and was pissed when I received it and realized it’s completely sheer. It took another couple of months to find something to layer underneath. And still I went all summer without wearing it. Since it was the last weekend of August, I figured I might as well break it out.

I wore it to Bond lounge in the Langham Hotel in Post Office Square. Bond, by the way, is gorgeous, the music is great, and the drinks are stiff. If you’re in Boston, you should visit. I got quite a few compliments on my outfit, albeit from some very drunk folks. I’m debating on wearing this dress during the day. Yay? Nay?

There was a time Before girls knew they weren’t pretty yet

It took all of my self-restraint to keep from bursting out into song on the treadmill when this song came on my ipod. However, I will be jamming out to it in a few hours when I get dressed for the night.

I wore this while running around the city, taking photos. I left the house convinced I felt confident enough to get some street style photos. I chickened out though. It feels so unnatural for me to approach people I don’t know. I also think that a lot of the beautifully dressed people I see on Newbury street are tourists from overseas, and I’m nervous about asking someone who doesn’t speak a word of English.

In los gatos malos news, I brought home dried catnip for the first time. Highly entertaining. I think Chloe is now a catnip addict. Pretty sure I have a bag of potato chips I would’ve found her passed out in it after getting the munchies.

I also got a pedicure with the brightest neon pink I’ve ever seen. The picture just barely starts to capture the… neon-ness.

In my dreams, I’m dying all the time

I finally put on something semi-attractive after a week of rain and winds and clouds. Whenever we have weather like that, I lament the fact that I have no adorable rain gear. No tall and colorful boots, no slick raincoat with matching hat like Paddington bear. And the second it stops raining, I forget. Maybe this fall, I’ll break the pattern.

I’m doing a little pattern mixing, but I kept the color palette neutral so I would be comfortable wearing it out. I’m getting to that point where getting dressed takes longer and longer because I’m just so bored with everything I own. So this is the time where I have to try to be even more creative with what I already own since I know that buying a new wardrobe won’t spur me to be more creative. Hopefully I come up with some good looks!

Very rock and roll, right? This girl makes me want to grow out my eyebrows. I mean, really, she’s just the cutest thing. Maniamania is a jewelry company, by the way. They’ve got some amazing pieces.

Fall Trends

Fall is getting closer, like the icy touch of the grim reaper. Sorry, I have tunnel vision these days. It’s preventing me from enjoying the upcoming crisp air, and forcing me to focus on the impending snowstorms and deep freezes in the future.

I’m attempting to get excited about the new season here. For the most part, I don’t think we’re seeing anything new for fall; it’s the same deep colors, tailored cuts, menswear, and platform heels we’ve seen for the past few seasons. Nevertheless, there are a few trends that I’m excited about.

Leopard Print

Forever21 dress
I think I’m most excited about incorporating this print in my closet. It can look incredibly trashy or chic, depending on your styling. This dress, for example, is pretty… not good on it’s own. But lose the terrible belt and tuck it into high-waisted, wide-leg pants and becomes classy.

Stripes

A.L.C. striped dress
Okay, stripes aren’t necessarily a trend for fall. But I love them they way most pop singers love auto-tune. This dress? tunic? would look great with leather pants.

Leather

Mackage leather pants

My wardrobe is seriously lacking leather. I bought a leather tank top over the summer, but it doesn’t fit quite right. Leather pants would make me feel like such a badass.

Lace

Only Hearts lace vest
So pretty. I love this with a wool skirt and silk blouse.

Knits

American Eagle cardigan

Okay, this might be the only thing about cold weather that I like. Big sweaters like this make me feel like I’m wrapped in a giant blanket. This sweater is especially blanket-like.

Over the knee boots

Sigerson Morrison
Ah, yes. Hooker boots. If I don’t end up with leather pants (and come on, I’m broke. I can’t afford leather pants), I could just wear these with a short dress and pretend they’re pants. Right?

Tell me, what trends/styles am I missing?
