Cambridge Caribbean Festival 2010

On Sunday, I went to the annual Caribbean Festival in Cambridge. I went last year for the first time, and was blown away by the costumes and size of the crowds. The festival was much smaller this year, although the costumes were still as amazing.

Plenty of pictures to come!

Marie Claire UK October 2010 | Kiki Kang

Pattern mixing. My archnemisisis. I love the leopard top and penicl skirt. I might be hunting down a similarly patterned skirt to recreate this look.

I love to feature new models here, especially ethnically diverse models who seem to be doing well in other countries, but are not getting the same response in the U.S. I’m still bristling about the lack of diversity in every semptember issue of American mags. I actually covered my door in beautiful images and ads ripped out of the magazines and when I took a step back to look, there were no black, asian, or indian models. How disappointing. Having said that, I love Kiki’s lips.

A Détacher S/S 2011

It’s that time, lovelies! Another Fashion Week is going by while I’m sitting in Boston. There’s always next year, right?

Some themes I’m seeing for Spring 2011 are floaty, delicate fabrics, lots of whites, beige, and blush pinks, and high waisted pants.

I’ve been stalking style.com for pics from the shows, and this one has been one of my favorites so far. I’ve never heard of A Détacher before… but I like it!

The Labor Day Blues

by a stylized hysteria on September 9, 2010

in outfits

I can go weeks without speaking to some of my friends and it doesn’t phase me at all. But if I go more than three days without posting, I feel all guilty. Weird, right?

I unplugged from most of the world for labor day weekend and spent time with my parents. Highlights included:
- Watching The Little Mermaid with my bff (and singing along in my head)
- Getting to meet another friend’s baby, who is adorable and freakishly strong for someone who still has trouble holding his own head up
- Pizza and prosecco with my parents around a fire while their neighbor blasted Prince’s greatest hits

Sadly the weekend is over and I’m still struggling to get back into the routine and adjust to the shortening days and cooler weather. Also bought los gatos malos a scratching post and they refuse to acknowledge it. Jerks.

Here’s my last little bit of summer for you- a few outfit pics I took last week and before and never posted.

Shorts to work?

Yep, I’ve never worn shorts to work before. But I’m tired of my dresses, and it’s too hot for anything else. I did try to make it a bit more respectable by adding a white button down. Am I being too conservative? Do you wear shorts to work?

Excuse the brevity of this post. My brain is melting…
