Fuck, Marry, or Kill: Golden Globes 2012

by a stylized hysteria on January 16, 2012

It’s that time again! I could post a best and worst dressed list, but everyone else is doing that. So instead, I play fuck, marry, or kill with the lovely ladies of the Golden Globes. My choices are based on outfits (duh), whether or not I like said actress, and if I think she can cook me a nice dinner. I do this fairly often. See here and here and here. Okay, let’s get started!

A Personal Manifesto

by a stylized hysteria on January 3, 2012

in Random

Let’s talk new years resolutions. I am committed to making some serious changes in my life in 2012. My three main resolutions are: to fall in love, get married before the end of the year, and start planning to make a family.

JUST KIDDING! Those would be my anti-resolutions. As in, if these things happen- the end is nigh, me and my ovaries have been brainwashed, or pod people have taken over the earth. But I am excited for the new year and the painfully optimistic thoughts that go along with the purchase of a fresh calendar and my recently passed birthday. Some of the things I hope to accomplish this year are the same trite goals everyone harps on about: losing weight, being healthier, eating healthier, saving money. Some are quite specific, like buying a new mattress and bed frame and getting Lasik eye surgery. But all of this thinking got my creative juices flowing. Ok, no. All of my wasted hours on pinterest got my creative juices flowing after seeing the passive-aggressive manifesto:

I really like the idea of placing general goals and motivational thoughts and quotes in a nice, simple design. But this one didn’t quite apply to me. So I made my own. Warning: Naughty Language Ahead.

It’s a work in progress. I might add some things. Maybe I’ll completely update it in June. But I like having something right in front on my face (as my laptop wallpaper) that reminds me of who I want to be and what I want to do with my life. I made this with PowerPoint and if you like it, you’re welcome to use it. Or hell, go make your own. And share it with me.

I am officially on holiday break (and I hope you are too)! I’ve spent the morning wrapping presents and not even considering getting dressed. I do have some end-of-year posts coming up but until then… CATS!

Winterized!

When I bought this dress at the very end of summer, I loved it but knew I’d only be able to wear it once or twice before the weather turned. However, my shopping partners/enablers insisted that I could “winterize” it with a sweater and tights and boots. The idea became a joke for us, and really just a way to rationalize ill-timed purchases. But now it’s winter (kind of) and goddamn it, I want to wear my pretty summer dress. So here it is…winterized!

Cut me a break on the pictures- the lighting today was beyond awful and I had all of 10 minutes to take pictures. Also, it’s just a sweater and tights and boots. But I feel all pretty and springy (or at least I would if I wasn’t freaking sick again)! So my final thoughts on winterizing?  Do it up, man. Do the shit out of it. It requires minimal effort and doubles your wardrobe.

dress- Madewell
sweater- TJ Maxx (years ago)
tights- Express
boots- Miz Mooz
necklace- Charlotte Russe

Biting My Tongue

Remember when I went on and on about the ridiculousness of trying to buy Versace for H&M? You should, it’s only two posts back. Well, I said I would not attempt to get in on another H&M designer collaboration unless it was the long-rumored Tom Ford collaboration. Well…

Marni. MARNI! You know what that means? No frilly party dresses that I have no where to wear them to (ahem,  Lanvin). No obnoxiously bright prints and cuts that border on Jersey Shore attire (sorry Donatella). It means a collection of beautiful, well-cut clothing that can be worn for real life. Take a peek at the pics below and then see a video (featuring a skirt and jacket I’m already drooling over) here, pop over to ING and set aside a little savings account (because this line will be a bank account breaker), and start getting together your posse for Marni and H&M tailgating. See you there in March!!
