Maison Martin Margiela x H&M

Since I heard about the Maison Martin Margiela collection for H&M, I’ve been tingly with anticipation. However, the Thursday morning release meant I’d probably miss the entire collection. Well, the stars aligned and I was able to be one of the first into the Downtown Crossing store in Boston. I was immediately impressed by the quality of the collection, especially the tailored items. I grabbed a blazer, draped skirt, and a silver candy wrapper clutch.

As lovely as the collection is, it’s also quite expensive, even by designer collaboration standards. So I’m torn. Do I keep it all?

The detailing on the blazer is incredible, but I find it tight in the arms and too loose in the chest.

I love the skirt in theory, but the lining is thin polyester which shows every wrinkle.

If I end up keeping anything from the collection, it’ll be candy wrapper clutch. It’s just large enough to go from functional to ridiculous. But it’s so fun!

Ironically, after my excitement in getting a spot in line for the release, it seems that most stores have plenty of the items still available. I might end up going back for this sweater.

I had problems with the blazers as well. I’m also considering going for the blue t-neck, it’s just so long on me!

I’ve resisted the collection thus far as I’m a little broke after that impromptu vacation to Mexico. Sigh. We’ll see if I can hold out until it’s old sold out. Until then I might have to steer clear of H&M. ;)

I love that skirt on you, and you have to keep the clutch. I absolutely adore it. I’ll be angry if you return it.

This is a tough call because they are all awesome. Keep the clutch (obviously) and the skirt. You can probably get more use out of the skirt and it already looks great with that top and boots!

Despite your review on the skirt, it looks AMAZING on you!

OMG, the clutch is sick. I love the blazer, but if it doesn’t fit, and can’t be tailored (or the tailoring costs more than it is worth) then nix it. The skirt is pretty fab – maybe some cling guard would help with the wrinkling?

I think the skirt looks amazing on you! I picked up the Plexi wedge booties – actually a friend snagged them for me. They’re gorgeous, but agreed on the price tag…a bit excessive.
