Maxi to the Max

Over the weekend,I watched an older independent film that didn’t get much attention when it was released. Too bad, because it was pretty good. It was Harry Potter, ever heard of it? In all seriousness, until Sunday I’d never seen a single Harry Potter movie. When they were first released they didn’t appeal to me and only when the last two were released (and looked quite dark and mature) that I was interested. I figured it’s best to start at the beginning, and filled up my Netflix queue. Well, damned if that first one wasn’t completely charming and funny and totally entertaining. I guess I’m not quite as morose as I thought. Can’t wait to get through the rest of the series.

On a slightly related note, Disney is re-releasing Beauty and the Beast in theaters. Who cried a little when she saw commercials for it and heard the songs? Um, not this girl. Nope, not at all.

Grey. Again. It really is my favorite of all the neutrals. Now, let’s discuss maxi skirts. It may be unhygienic and a safety hazard, but I want my maxi skirt to cover my feet completely. I want my hem to graze the floor. And when I see a maxi skirt that stops at the ankle or (dear god) right above the ankle, I get faint. Maxi means maximum, ladies. Go for the length and the drama. Are you in the same camp as me, or do you prefer to not sweep the floor with your clothing?

skirt/dress – Forever21
sweater – American Apparel
boots (like you can see them) – Sam Edelman
necklace – H&M

Totally agree with you on the maxi skirt issue – although at my height I have little choice, as everything grazes the floor on me. Speaking of maxi dresses and skirts, I realized a have a shortage of of the casual jersey variety you are so fond of. May need your help in remedying this. Shopping outing?

I agree with you on the length of maxi skirts – they should go to the floor – but I can’t reconcile that with my walk-all-over-the-city lifestyle, so my solution is that I never wear maxi skirts :(

Hahaha, I think I have a fear of any of my clothing touching the ground, but that’s ’cause I’m short. I love this one you’re wearing.  I have seen the Beauty and the Beast re-release, and did you know they updated the song? It’s so modern.
The animator in me truly loves that film.

Love this! I love the layering and how the longer length adds an element of sophistication to a casual look!

Okay, but now we have to talk. When you said you had never seen the HP movies, I reeeeeeeally hope this doesn’t mean you’ve not read the books. It might make me question our internet friendship…or just mail books to you! :)

I am so behind on my reading…I’m just getting to World War Z. Do you think the books are much better than the movies?

I am obsessed with maxis, and I’ve had so much fun styling them for fall & winter. The skirt looks gorgeous with your grey sweater.

I feel like every comment I leave here has to have bullets. And yet, here I go again:
    1) Love the new blog header!
    2) CAT!!!!!
    3) I also, have never read or watched Harry Potter. I don’t intend to. I don’t care how cute or charming they are! Bah Humbug.
    4) There is life yet in my cold heart – Beauty and the Beast was a particular favorite of young Kristen. A story about a stubborn girl who won’t stop reading? Speak to me, Disney, tell me all about it! Want to go see it in the theatre together??

I’m glad someone else is excited about the B&B re-release.  I was starting to feel a smidge like a giant nerd.
