The Labor Day Blues

by a stylized hysteria on September 9, 2010

I can go weeks without speaking to some of my friends and it doesn’t phase me at all. But if I go more than three days without posting, I feel all guilty. Weird, right?

I unplugged from most of the world for labor day weekend and spent time with my parents. Highlights included:
- Watching The Little Mermaid with my bff (and singing along in my head)
- Getting to meet another friend’s baby, who is adorable and freakishly strong for someone who still has trouble holding his own head up
- Pizza and prosecco with my parents around a fire while their neighbor blasted Prince’s greatest hits

Sadly the weekend is over and I’m still struggling to get back into the routine and adjust to the shortening days and cooler weather. Also bought los gatos malos a scratching post and they refuse to acknowledge it. Jerks.

Here’s my last little bit of summer for you- a few outfit pics I took last week and before and never posted.

Why am I so happy? Well, this picture is from last week right after I made plans to visit a girlfriend in NY for the long weekend. I rarely take vacations, even short ones, so this was a real treat. I am back now and I have some fun photos to share when I finally get around to unpacking my teeny bag. Random fact: I am a really light packer. It leaves room to buy new stuff.

I love this sheer top and I try to wear it with everything, regardless of how well it works. Case in point- when I first put it on, it hung down over my butt and looked very sloppy a la the Olsens. So I tucked it into the hem of my tank underneath and got this little bubble hem that worked much better with the skirt.

Chloe cat, looking as grumpy as ever. I’ve taken to calling her and Calliope los gatos malos. When they scuffle, they get pretty hardcore.

This life is more than just a read thru

I’m amazed by how short I look in this picture.

This is a very old outfit- it’s been way too hot lately for real clothes. I freakin love it.

And this is my alien-head hairdo. I’m still not sure if I like it.

When I wore this skirt on Monday, I tweeted that it was “Serena van der Woodsen” tight. Which basically means, if it wasn’t ruched you’d be able to see my uterus. Yay for ruching! I think it’s actually a nice alternative to a regular pencil skirt for work and the button-down shirt tones it down. The shoes are my new wear-with-everything black flats. They have a Loeffler Randall vibe to them, yes?

PS- I got my hand vacuum that I mentioned in my last post. This is the happiest I’ve ever been in my adult life. It scares the kitties (always entertaining) but ohmigod the thing sucks up everything. If you want to know the brand, tell me in the comments and I’ll pass along the info!

PPS- I added a few new items to the store, check check check it out!

You Move Like Music with Your Style

This is a pretty boring outfit, but at least my feet are sparkly! These are courtesy of Nine West and they are definite attention-getters. I can’t wait till it’s warmer and I can wear these with cute skirts and rolled-up jeans.
