This is yesterday’s outfit. Today I am dressed like a proper office monkey and spent the morning in a conference. Things like this would have me looking forward to the weekend, but this weekend only holds the promise of work and cleaning.

So… I tried spinning for the first time on Tuesday. I got a great deal on a 30-day membership to Healthworks, a women-only gym throughout Boston. It’s super high-end, clean, gorgeous, and sell-your-body expensive. So yeah, I tried spinning. It was good – the hour flew by and it felt like a great workout. Until I woke up yesterday and couldn’t make my knees work. And couldn’t sit down because my butt was sore. It was actually beyond sore. Imagine my butt was Shakespeare, locked in a room and forced to listen to Sarah Palin speeches for a year non-stop. His agony is akin to what my butt (still) feels.

This led to a great discovery on Wednesday morning. Icy Hot should not go on your butt. Just trust me. Despite all of this, I’m going to try spinning again. Once my ass stops crying.

I started off with sandals but they weren’t quite right, so I ended up wearing my new favorite flats again.

I’m very distracted right now. I learned this morning that the son of a family friend took his own life. Beyond feeling my heart breaking for his father, I feel angry. There’s help out there, and there is always another choice. As someone who has dealt with feelings of depression for years, it hurts to hear about other going through this sort of pain and being unable to see another way out. I’m not going to preach, but suicide is a selfish act. How dare you leave your loved ones to spend their days doubting their own actions and wondering what they could have done to help?

Hello hips!

As someone who’s gained a little weight recently and finds most of my pants sitting in the closet until I’m back to my normal size, it really doesn’t make sense to wear pleated pants to emphasize my hips. But they were so cute, sitting there on sale. Whenever I put them on, I feel inspired to wear some very masculine pieces. I can’t wait until the fall so I can wear them with super tall ankle boots and a schoolboy vest.

How goes your Monday? Usually I enjoy Mondays. I’m always energized and motivated to complete as much work as possible. Today…is a different story. I can tell that something is vaguely bothering me because I’m starting to rip at my nails and cuticles. I’m curious- what is your “tell” that you’re overstressed or feeling out of sorts?

I’ve have this shirt forever but the straps are a little too long. I pinned them up and presto, perfectly fitting shirt that was sitting at the bottom of my drawer for years. I’ve got to bring it to the tailor soon. You might also notice that my hair is straight. Really straight. I got a brazilian keratin treatment, and I’m working on a review of the experience to share with you guys. Here’s a spoiler… it’s awesome!

It’s too hot for this shit

Earlier this week, I gave up on dressing for the weather. Like Sam Jackson would say, or yell, “It’s too hot for this shit!” So I wore my new shirt from Zara, and long pants, and sweated my proverbial balls off.

Short post today; I’m actually in Philly visiting my sister and nephew. I might be biased but my nephew is the smartest, cutest child to ever exist. Enjoy the weekend, folks!

Risque in ripped jeans

My boss was on vacation last week, which translated to wearing my favorite, most unprofessional jeans to work. You ready for something scandalous? I’m not wearing a tank top under my shirt. Just a nude bra. Risque indeed, right? No? Well, I felt very adventurous.

So how do you know you talk about your cats too much? Well, if you go to a blogger conference (more on that in another post), see a blogger you haven’t seen in months and the first thing she says to you is “You got a new cat!” Yeah, that’s a pretty good sign.

I made sure to get some photos of my accessories since they are the only bits of color in my grey, grey outfit. Love my earrings- they came to me all the from India. And my blazer? Like $25 at H&M. Perfect if you’re been experiencing sticker shock at the price of blazers elsewhere.

Illegal Tender

Part II of the unveiling of my new items. Oh hai new top and new shooz! The top is from H&M and they have a massive section devoted to T by Alexander Wang knock-offs designer-inspired pieces. The top is actually a dress that reaches about mid-thigh in the back (it’s a little too short in the front to wear as a dress) and I swear that earlier in the day I was browsing shopbop and saw the T by A.Wang version and thought “ooooooh. pretty.”

The shoes are a total impulse buy from Aldo. I went to the mall to get out of my oven-esque apartment and, well, they were begging to come home with me. I avoid Aldo normally (their shoes are not comfortable) but the low heel and ankle support makes these walkable. Do they seem vaguely reminiscent of Chloe (the clothing/shoe brand, not the cat) to you as well?

Yawn. I’m usually in bed by 10:30 (don’t laugh) but when a girlfriend I haven’t seen in two years comes to town, well, I stay up. And I spend the next day yawning and mainlining starbucks. Yum!

On another note, Sunday was Chloe Cat’s 1 yr. birthday! She enjoyed some fish and new toys and bug killing. All in all, a great day for her.
