I never thought I’d see the day, but I’m getting a little tired of shopping. My closet is full and I have plenty of options of things to wear to work, to party, to lay in bed with the cats with, to attend a black-tie affair (I did end up keeping the Lanvin skirt), and so forth. I mean, I’m still browsing online and looking at gorgeous clothing, but really…why? Of course I could find items to covet but do I need to add more to my closet? There are a few caveats, of course. I’m still desperate for a pair of (affordable) leather pants or leggings, a pair of dark denim waxed jeans, and the perfect over-the-knee boots.

One item I knocked off the list was a bright, saturated pink skirt. It’s been a journey. I searched stores. I searched ebay. I searched fabric stores in hopes of having a skirt made. Nothing was ever bright enough. Then I found it on etsy from vintage seller, Vintage Riches. It was on hold for someone else but I got lucky I was able to buy it when the first buyer fell through. Lucky me, because it fits (a little tight, but I’ll suffer) and it’s pink enough.  Seriously. It’s just as bright in real life as it is in the photos. I could not be freaking happier!

It came with a matching cape which doesn’t fit me quite as well, but I suspect it will see a second life as another type of garment. Today I paired with shades of grey to make the pink stand out even more and some neon jewelry.

Black and Neon

Time definitely moves faster as you get older. I remember New Years Eve, thinking “I’ll accomplish so much this year!” And uh, I haven’t quite knocked everything off my to-do list and we’re speeding towards November. I haven’t even taken time to fully appreciate one of my favorite holidays, Halloween. Even if I don’t put on a costume, the simple fact that there are so many horror movies on TV fills my heart with glee. Which may have something to do with my lack of recent posting.

I’ll try to get back to a more regular schedule. I’m sure, of course, you’ve missed me dearly. Today I got dressed for a meeting, but realized I looked more like a teen heading to private school so I threw on some platform boots and red lipstick. The effect is professional, not school-girl hooker, right?

I then added some DIY jewelry to ensure no one mistakes me for an actual adult. Man, that would suck. Now, I’ve tried acrylic paints, paint markers, chalk paint, and nail polish to create neon jewelry and I think the best products I’ve found are the acrylic paint and nail polish. Chalk paint sucked the big one. A little helpful advice, from me to you.

Very rock and roll, right? This girl makes me want to grow out my eyebrows. I mean, really, she’s just the cutest thing. Maniamania is a jewelry company, by the way. They’ve got some amazing pieces.

I love this skirt. I got it a few weeks ago and the first time I wore it, I spilled oil on it. Sadly, the stain is still somewhat apparent. But I’m stubborn and like I said, I love the skirt, so I keep wearing it. I purposely wore a boring old t-shirt with it so it would be more casual.

My shoes are the Gap city flats and they are fantastic. I have a hard time with flats fitting properly, but these are incredibly comfortable and the color nearly matches my skin. Perfect for outfits that require the simplest shoes.

And the manicure? Random. But fun.

Yes, my shirt does have a giant hole in the back. Thanks for telling me.

I bought this crossback T by Alexander Wang bra a few weeks ago and realized that I had nothing in my closet that had a low enough back to show off the best details of the bra. So a quick ebay search turned up this top from Victoria’s Secret. I tried to keep the rest of my outfit low-key, hence the jeans and flats. On a night out I would wear the top and bra with a high-waisted pencil skirt and some chunky heels.

I love this necklace. I got it from etsy seller basilthecat. It’s gorgeous and subtle and the perfect length. I really recommend checking out her store.
