It feels almost sacrilegious to put up a picture of myself in a sweater when it’s beautiful outside right now and the sun is shining. But I am way behind on my outfit photos, so I’m starting with the first one from Monday. Yes, it’s Sunday. I am that far behind!

So this is my first outfit photo set-up at my parent’s place. And I guess it’ll do the trick for now, although my parents have such lovely artwork and decor that I should look for some new places to take pictures.

One last thing- if you wear a long black skirt with a long black jacket, people will look at like you’re a witch. Trust me on this.

I have since recovered from a delicious Thanksgiving dinner spent with friends that are really more like my family. It was so much food that I needed all of yesterday to recover. Seriously. No Black Friday shopping. I can’t believe it either.

Last Thanksgiving, I realized that long skirts and dresses in jersey are the best thing for overeating. There are no zippers, nothing to constrict me; in fact, there’s plenty of room for my food belly to expand.

I’m also taking this opportunity to share all the layering required for me to leave the house. The beige thing I’m pulling off my arm is actually an elbow-length glove. My giant knit hat is in my purse.

Also, dig my awesome boots. I first saw them in Free People and nearly forked over $200 for them at the beginning of fall. On Tuesday I snuck out of the office for some fresh air, somehow ended up in Marshalls and found them for $80. Holla!

that I am utterly boring. Wait, let me back up. During Boston Fashion Week, I met some cool characters, including Holly. Holly is a new blogger, has an understanding of styling and fashion that chillingly good, and is just generally adorable. So when she asked to me join her and her friends to do a fashion, art, and music showing at Great Scott, I was thrilled. So I left my little bubble in the Back Bay/South End (read-wealthy yuppies) and traveled to Allston. Anyway, Holly,Leigh, and everyone else was adorable and friendly. They shared their beer and no one discussed their 9-5 day job, their bills, or the errands they need to run over the weekend. It was fairly early on that I realized that I am so much closer to that lifestyle that I’ve disliked for so long. You know, business casual during the day, Saturday nights out that end before midnight, no new experiences. So I am taking suggestions for something ridiculous and out of character. Let’s keep it legal, though (unless you want to email me)!

The styling was, of course, fantastic. Uncle Pete’s provided the most amazing clothes from Rick Owens, Society for Rational Dress, and Sea. I nearly cried (I mean actual tears) when I saw a Rick Owens denim jacket with leather sleeves. Holly picked an amazing white cotton shirt from Rick Owens that I wore as a dress, with two pairs of textured tights from H&M and my own jewelry and heels from Nine West. Amanda from red bird vintage gave us all some amazing makeup, and Bill Paul from a salon whose name has escaped me Bradley & Diegal (Holly, remind me Thank you!) gave me an awesome bang trim.

These photos are from Sunday. Bet you couldn’t figure that out! I spent most of Saturday moping and when I woke up to the sun shining on Sunday, I was filled with energy. I hit SoWa market again, and even though I had less luck finding goodies I did score an italian ice, so the whole endeavor was a success. Afterwards, I bought a cute small umbrella from the Marc Jacobs store. Considering all the rain we’ve seen and my aptitude for getting caught in said rain without any sort of protection… this was the second best purchase of the weekend. The first? A handheld vacuum. Seriously, I live with two cats and a white rug. I could buy a private jet made of gold tomorrow and I’d still consider the handvac to be my best purchase of the year.

On to the fashion. Part of my moping on Saturday stemmed for trying on a bajillion pairs of shorts and deeming them all tiny pieces of masochistic hell. So on Sunday I pulled out my no-fail shorts- loose, with a longer inseam and flared leg and I felt good again.

The goods from the SoWa market?
A brooch. Or pin, if you’re under 50.

I was reminded that today is the anniversary of Kurt Cobain’s death. It feels appropriate to use his lyrics today then.

I had an amazing weekend with my sister. She came to visit from Philly and we had a blast walking around the city, shopping away, and laughing at Chloe kitten. Good times, man, good times.
