outfit with skirt and bright tights

I wore this outfit…Monday? It was a long week and this truly was the only outfit worth photographing. It would have definitely looked better with heels, but what can I say? On a rare occasion, comfort wins over style.

Did a little weekend shopping. nothing fancy (except my super awesome NARS foundation). Did a little weekend drinking. Celebrated my best friend getting engaged and getting a beautiful ring from her fiance. Did a little cat-cuddling, but really that happens every weekend. Made my favorite soup, a variety on avgolemono, and ate so much I got a stomach ache. Likely to make a second pot of it tonight because it’s one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. Pulled out my pieces for the swap on Thursday; can’t wait to see everyone and hopefully come home with some winning pieces!

Got a little dressed up for shopping on Saturday. It was warm and sunny, and made me forget about the snowy days lurking. The boots are from Forever21; after seeing them on Where Did U Get That, I had to have them. Yeah, they’re cheap and they kind of hurt. But look! So cute!

The Labor Day Blues

by a stylized hysteria on September 9, 2010

I can go weeks without speaking to some of my friends and it doesn’t phase me at all. But if I go more than three days without posting, I feel all guilty. Weird, right?

I unplugged from most of the world for labor day weekend and spent time with my parents. Highlights included:
- Watching The Little Mermaid with my bff (and singing along in my head)
- Getting to meet another friend’s baby, who is adorable and freakishly strong for someone who still has trouble holding his own head up
- Pizza and prosecco with my parents around a fire while their neighbor blasted Prince’s greatest hits

Sadly the weekend is over and I’m still struggling to get back into the routine and adjust to the shortening days and cooler weather. Also bought los gatos malos a scratching post and they refuse to acknowledge it. Jerks.

Here’s my last little bit of summer for you- a few outfit pics I took last week and before and never posted.

Now that you know what you know

I was all set to do a sort of feature—a week of work appropriate clothing that isn’t boring or stuffy. But then I deleted Monday’s outfit picture accidentally. Today I wore jeans to work. So, um, there goes my week of dressing well for work.

I managed to get Tuesday’s outfit safely onto my computer. The skirt is fantastic; it has a light green iridescent coating that only shows up in the sunlight.

I started off with sandals but they weren’t quite right, so I ended up wearing my new favorite flats again.

I’m very distracted right now. I learned this morning that the son of a family friend took his own life. Beyond feeling my heart breaking for his father, I feel angry. There’s help out there, and there is always another choice. As someone who has dealt with feelings of depression for years, it hurts to hear about other going through this sort of pain and being unable to see another way out. I’m not going to preach, but suicide is a selfish act. How dare you leave your loved ones to spend their days doubting their own actions and wondering what they could have done to help?
