Finally, after owning it for a year, I wore my leather tank top. Originally purchased from Shopbop during one of the summer clearance sales, it was love at first sight despite my inability to uh…fill it in. A few months ago I brought it to a tailor who did a great job taking it in and also somehow made it fit in a way that makes me look almost busty.

I wore it last Saturday to a clothing swap (where I found some goodies!) and I rocked my first arm party. Multiple arm parties, actually, because I know how to have a good time.

Well, I’ve been having a hell of a week. How about you? Amid a blizzard and a crazy work schedule, I’ve been in real estate hell. When your landlord takes the ceiling out of your shower stall without replacing it, it’s time to move. Right? Right. So I’ll be trekking through Boston for the next few days, visiting any and all open apartments I can find. Wish me luck!

Since I’m not wearing a snowsuit and mittens, I think it’s pretty clear these photos were taken at the beginning of the week.

The necklaces are all gifts, two of them from my sister. The necklace with the “N’ charm is passed down from my grandmother, who’s name also begins with N.

Did you see Florence and the Machine on SNL this past weekend? She did two great performances of the most popular singles. I was struck by how strong and beautiful her voice is and how awesome her legs are. I wish I could find stills because the lady’s got some stems on her!

Today’s outfit does not include any of my awesome finds from the clothing swap last week, but I woke up with a clear idea of taking a somewhat casual sweatshirt and pairing it with a feminine and dressy skirt. If I had realized today was going to be hot, I would have worn platform sandals with a pair of cute ankle socks. I think the boots still work pretty well, though. Oh, and this really is today’s outfit! It’s a miracle, considering how far behind I usually am with outfit posts!

I wore this outfit Saturday night out with Becca of Free Honey and Marissa of The Well-Appointed Catwalk. We all laughed when we revealed that we had some dressing anxiety when it came to hanging out with other fashion bloggers. I will say, though, we were a very well-dressed bunch! I’m also proud to say that at one point I hustled them into the bathroom and demanded they try out the bright pink lipstick I brought. It looked great on them both. I love introducing my friends to things they haven’t tried out before. Another (2) ladies are no longer bright lipsticks virgins!

The skirt is another piece I got at the Swapaholics clothing swap. When I picked it up I assumed it would be too small, but the back is elasticized. Whew! It’s also very short, like way shorter that it looks in this picture. I rarely wear short skirts, and it was nice to do something a little different.

Friday night tapas for a girlfriends birthday! I bought this dress at the end of spring from Ebay and have been waiting impatiently for the weather to cool down enough to wear it. Right before I left the house I realized I’d better put a skirt on underneath. Once I put on my jacket and bag, the side of my dress rode up and I was really happy to be wearing that skirt!

These pants are my best purchase of the season so far. I reach for them so much, it’s sort of ridiculous. Like in yesterday’s outfit post, I can wear them as a suit. I can throw on flats and a tee and be casual. And to think they only cost $12 at Gap!

Before I took photos this morning, I was super proud of this outfit. I felt comfortable and chic in it. And then I saw the photos and realized my all black outfit and white stockings totally ripoff Michael Jackson.

So I’m kind of laughing at myself and hoping people on the street don’t immediately come to the same conclusion.

I was catching up with a girlfriend online and when she asked what I’d been up to, I realized something. So many of my favorite activities, like blogging and photography, are solitary activities. And most bloggers realize that when you want to get exposure for your blog, it usually means hours a day on the computer. Sometimes I’ll go for weeks before realizing that I’ve barely interacted with people in real life. Kind of crazy. So I’m looking forward to going to the Museum of Fine Arts on Saturday and viewing the Richard Avedon exhibit. With a real life person! Saturday the 25th is actually Smithsonian Magazine Free Museum Day, and tons of Museums throughout the country are participating.

As someone who’s gained a little weight recently and finds most of my pants sitting in the closet until I’m back to my normal size, it really doesn’t make sense to wear pleated pants to emphasize my hips. But they were so cute, sitting there on sale. Whenever I put them on, I feel inspired to wear some very masculine pieces. I can’t wait until the fall so I can wear them with super tall ankle boots and a schoolboy vest.

How goes your Monday? Usually I enjoy Mondays. I’m always energized and motivated to complete as much work as possible. Today…is a different story. I can tell that something is vaguely bothering me because I’m starting to rip at my nails and cuticles. I’m curious- what is your “tell” that you’re overstressed or feeling out of sorts?

My boss was on vacation last week, which translated to wearing my favorite, most unprofessional jeans to work. You ready for something scandalous? I’m not wearing a tank top under my shirt. Just a nude bra. Risque indeed, right? No? Well, I felt very adventurous.

At a later date, I wore the denim dress unbuttoned over a pair of leggings to brunch, and my friends declared it my “art class smock.” As in, the giant button-down shirts you had to wear in art class during grade school. I’m very tempted to wear it with a carefully placed paint smudge on my face.

hiding among the greenery. I wore this on Tuesday to an all-day work conference. I had to look decent but it was also hot enough for birds to burst into flames in midflight. Linen and silk (even cheap linen and silk) work well for these kind of circumstances.

These are my new fab shades bought last weekend at the SoWa market from vintage seller Nicole at Fidget Finds. You know how Lucky always describes boutiques as having a “carefully edited” selection? I never really got the phrase until visiting Nicole’s booth. Everything she brought to the market was gorgeous, in great condition, and just plain cool. There was no need to rifle through ugly stuff to get to the good stuff. It was all good. Sadly, I’ve been persuaded to stick to a budget (I type that with a grimace on my face) so I left with only sunglasses. I couldn’t resist a great dress from another vintage seller, so you’ll be seeing that soon.
