As a Capricorn, I’m supposed to be a bit of a control freak. I’m not. It sounds like a lot of work. I prefer to pretend that I don’t care about how things turn out because if something goes wrong, it’s not my fault. That’s much healthier, right? Despite it being the holiday season, I’ve been feeling a bit stressed.

I do find that new clothes help with stress, especially free clothes! This shirt and jeans are from The Swapaholics clothing swap I mentioned before. I know, it’s not the most exciting outfit, but I spent the day walking around and wanted to be comfortable.

I went to the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) and left with this cool…thing. It’s supposed to be a table runner- there are matching placemats available. But currently it’s hanging on my bedroom wall and looks great. I don’t have a dining table, anyway.

MAC chartreuse pigment. My sister hated it, but I’m sort of obsessed with this shade.

This outfit is from last week, or maybe even the week before. Definitely an attempt to make my boss happy and wear business casual. I may or may not have twirled around in my office when no one was looking.

In other news, now that it’s getting colder Chloe kitten has started cuddling with me at respectable hour. No more booty calls for me! As a friend on twitter said, I’m on my way to being the main chick.

This is the last of that sort of thing. Now I’m cleaning up and I’m moving on, going straight and choosing life. I’m looking forward to it already. I’m gonna be just like you.

I went to the gym this morning and was very excited to see my favorite movie, Trainspotting, on the tv. It was like visiting with old friends. Friends who are heroin addicts, have terrible hygiene, and are generally fucking insane.

Boston Fashion Week is going right now, continuing through till Friday or Saturday. I’ll be covering some of the shows for New Brahmin, so make sure to check the site! I’m also heading to the Swapaholics swap and blogger meet-up on Thursday. I already have set aside a bag of goodies. I cannot wait!

In the meantime, here’s an outfit I wore to work last week. I really love the socks and sandals together, although I gotta a hell of a lot of odd looks. The skirt is a maxi skirt from H&M that I wear often. I pinned the front up and the back fell naturally into a balloon hem.

I can go weeks without speaking to some of my friends and it doesn’t phase me at all. But if I go more than three days without posting, I feel all guilty. Weird, right?

I unplugged from most of the world for labor day weekend and spent time with my parents. Highlights included:
- Watching The Little Mermaid with my bff (and singing along in my head)
- Getting to meet another friend’s baby, who is adorable and freakishly strong for someone who still has trouble holding his own head up
- Pizza and prosecco with my parents around a fire while their neighbor blasted Prince’s greatest hits

Sadly the weekend is over and I’m still struggling to get back into the routine and adjust to the shortening days and cooler weather. Also bought los gatos malos a scratching post and they refuse to acknowledge it. Jerks.

I finally put on something semi-attractive after a week of rain and winds and clouds. Whenever we have weather like that, I lament the fact that I have no adorable rain gear. No tall and colorful boots, no slick raincoat with matching hat like Paddington bear. And the second it stops raining, I forget. Maybe this fall, I’ll break the pattern.

I’m doing a little pattern mixing, but I kept the color palette neutral so I would be comfortable wearing it out. I’m getting to that point where getting dressed takes longer and longer because I’m just so bored with everything I own. So this is the time where I have to try to be even more creative with what I already own since I know that buying a new wardrobe won’t spur me to be more creative. Hopefully I come up with some good looks!

I was all set to do a sort of feature—a week of work appropriate clothing that isn’t boring or stuffy. But then I deleted Monday’s outfit picture accidentally. Today I wore jeans to work. So, um, there goes my week of dressing well for work.

I managed to get Tuesday’s outfit safely onto my computer. The skirt is fantastic; it has a light green iridescent coating that only shows up in the sunlight.

As someone who’s gained a little weight recently and finds most of my pants sitting in the closet until I’m back to my normal size, it really doesn’t make sense to wear pleated pants to emphasize my hips. But they were so cute, sitting there on sale. Whenever I put them on, I feel inspired to wear some very masculine pieces. I can’t wait until the fall so I can wear them with super tall ankle boots and a schoolboy vest.

How goes your Monday? Usually I enjoy Mondays. I’m always energized and motivated to complete as much work as possible. Today…is a different story. I can tell that something is vaguely bothering me because I’m starting to rip at my nails and cuticles. I’m curious- what is your “tell” that you’re overstressed or feeling out of sorts?

I bought this crossback T by Alexander Wang bra a few weeks ago and realized that I had nothing in my closet that had a low enough back to show off the best details of the bra. So a quick ebay search turned up this top from Victoria’s Secret. I tried to keep the rest of my outfit low-key, hence the jeans and flats. On a night out I would wear the top and bra with a high-waisted pencil skirt and some chunky heels.

I love this necklace. I got it from etsy seller basilthecat. It’s gorgeous and subtle and the perfect length. I really recommend checking out her store.

I saw this outfit on the Briannelee and loved all the jewelry she piled on. I also loved her inspiration for the outfit- the glamourai, who everyone should visit for inspiration. Her ability to pair patterns and colors and layers is just far out.

So in turn, after Briannelee was inspired by the glamourai, I was inspired by her and threw on a ton of necklaces. They totally made the outfit!
